Patients & Family Health Education
“Health education in a nutshell is an initiative of the Hospital San Gerardo, who takes his cue from a project on health education to patients and family members being held in hospital under path to excellence second Joint Commission International accreditation.
Health education is an educational process that seeks to empower citizens, individuals and groups, in defense of their own health and others.
The essential point is to acquire its own liability (whether knowingly or not delegated) in the defense of their physical and mental balance … … is achieved through a process of communication.

The current definition of health is created by the Declaration to the Constitution of the World Health Organization health as a “state of complete physical, mental and social, not merely the absence of disease.”
It follows that health education is an education strategy aimed at making the individual aware of his health as a resource for everyday life and delay or prevent diseases, especially chronic degenerative diseases (prevention).
When the individual must be analyzed in the fear of disease or is sick and therefore needs care, Health Education must extend to enable them to understand the diagnostic or therapeutic purposes and to get involved in an informed manner. Health Education and Health Promotion should then become one with results that are reflected by the individual on society.
