Hypoglycemia
Condition characterized by causing decreased levels of blood sugar (less than 60 milligrams per deciliter of blood), which prevents cells from receiving adequate supply of energy, its causes include:
- Reaction to medications or insulin in people with diabetes.
- Skipping or delaying a meal.
- Administration of certain drugs, such as those indicated to treat AIDS-related pneumonia.
- Psychological disorders which include generalized anxiety or nervousness.
- Excessive consumption of alcohol.
- Pancreatic tumor.
- Exercising vigorously for long periods.
In terms of symptoms causing hypoglycemia should be noted that each individual may experience symptoms differently, and then discusses:
- Earthquakes.
- Dizziness.
- Sweating.
- Hunger.
- Headache.
- Irritability.
- Pallor.
- Sudden changes in mood or behavior, and mourn for no apparent reason.
- Clumsiness.
- Difficulty paying attention.
- Tingling around the mouth.
When these kind of difficulties it is best to seek medical attention in addition to a complete medical history and physical examination, order blood tests to determine the level of glucose. After confirming the diagnosis of hypoglycemia, your doctor will prescribe the appropriate treatment, which may include the administration of glucagon (a hormone that stimulates the production of glucose by the liver) surgery (in case of tumor in the pancreas) and changes in eating habits (to make 5 to 6 light meals and balanced).
