Main symptoms of leukemia
As they produce a large amount of abnormal blood cells, much of the bone marrow fills with these abnormal cells. Because it is difficult for normal bone marrow cells can survive and become mature enough cells. In addition, the abnormal cells go into the bloodstream. Therefore, the main problems that may occur include:
Anemia. This occurs as the number of red cells in the bloodstream decreases. It can cause fatigue, dyspnea (difficulty breathing) and other symptoms and pallor.
Problems with blood clotting. This is because low levels of platelets in the bloodstream. It can cause easy bruising, bleeding gums, and other problems.
Serious infections. Abnormal white blood cells do not protect against infection. In addition, the number of normal white blood cells is reduced. Therefore, serious infections are more likely to develop. Read the rest of this entry »
Leukemia
What is it?
When immature blood cells (blasts) are proliferating, reproduce uncontrollably in the bone marrow and build up both there and in blood, achieved replacing normal cells. This uncontrolled growth is called leukemia.
The cause of leukemia is unknown in most cases. However, it is shown that a condition is not hereditary or contagious. Most often occurs in previously healthy children. Being a proliferation of immature and abnormal cells in the blood, leukemia is considered a “blood cancer.”
