Androgenetic Alopecia: Common Baldness
What is it?
Androgenetic alopecia, also known as common baldness in men and women for hereditary loss is a common trait from the genetic standpoint, produced by androgens in men and women sensitive to them. It is the most common cause of hair loss in both men and women.
It begins in adolescence or early adulthood in both sexes and is often expressed around the entire 40 years of age.
According to various statistics, affect about 25% of men between 25 and 35, and 40% of those aged 40 years and 50% of those over 50 years, increasing the percentage as we consider groups older age. In women could be affected around 28%, although there are no comprehensive studies on the matter.
In the past, baldness often seen as something unfortunate or unwanted. However, this attitude has changed over the years and today, a shaven head is usually considered also as something modern and attractive.
